Q: Raw data is just a list of numbers. You talk about "ANSWERS" not "numbers". What does this mean?
A: Based on our team’s expert understanding of economic development theory and practice, we have ‘pre-identified’ all the questions that need to be asked about a place to begin the job of enhancing it. And we have answered them… about every place in the UK. In other words, we’ve done the work so you don’t have to.
Q: Can I influence the questions that are asked?
A: Yes. Gavurin will offer you guidance on the best questions to ask to give you the answers to make a difference to your place..
Q: Where does your data come from?
A: Remember Gavurin gives you answers not numbers, but if you want access to raw data you can certainly have it.
Our data comes from Central Government, Companies House, our strategic partner Market Location Ltd and the United States Bureau of Labor. The sources of data that we use are continually being updated as are our methodologies for interpretation.
Q: How can I be confident about the results?
A: Gavurin’s economic development professionals have extensive experience of helping clients develop robust economic development strategies. In particular, they know how to relate a problem to the data and how to address it.
Q: Will Insight tell me how to deliver change?
A: No. Insight will give you ANSWERS to questions about your place that must be asked. You will have the strongest possible foundations on which to build a robust strategy but you will still need to build the strategy and implement it. However, Gavurin can help you do BOTH of these things.
Q: How can I be assured that policies I derive from Insight will stand up to critical and forensic appraisal?
A: We will not use terms we cannot define. The data we use will be demonstrably fit for purpose. Wherever possible we will use more than one set of data to verify findings. And finally, what we do will stand up to academic analysis.
Q: Will it help me talk to businesses?
A: Most definitely. Gavurin will tell you more about your business base and the businesses found within it than any other service. This means you will be able to engage with Chief Executives from a position of knowledge and understanding about what makes their businesses tick. Also, Insight uses a vocabulary that businesses understand.
Q: How can Insight help Central Government target area based initiatives?
A: Well designed initiatives help bring communities together. Such initiatives may target crime, health, educational attainment, economic performance and skills, often in deprived areas. With Insight you can be confident that your understanding of places and issues is detailed, thorough and comprehensive.
Q: How can Gavurin support me to develop and implement strategies from Insight?
A: With our strategic partners we will help to create a strategic planning process that engages all stakeholders (crucially including businesses) and we will support the development of Action Plans. We also develop and run education programmes in support of Insight and related economic development ideas.
